ASTM & Additive Center Partner to Raise Quality and Certification in Semiconductor Sector

Frankfurt, Germany — November 18, 2025 — ASTM International’s Additive Manufacturing Center of Excellence (AM CoE) and Additive Center B.V. (Eindhoven, Netherlands) have announced a strategic partnership to accelerate additive manufacturing (AM) certification and quality assurance used in semiconductor equipment manufacturing supply chains.

This collaboration connects Additive Center’s extensive semiconductor ecosystem expertise and supplier development capabilities with ASTM’s globally recognized standards, qualification, and certification frameworks as applied to original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) in the semiconductor industry. Together, the organizations aim to establish the first semiconductor-specific pathway for AM supplier qualification, setting a new benchmark for quality and reliability in one of the world’s most critical high-tech industries.

Elevating Semiconductor Quality through Standards and Certification

Driven by a leading semiconductor OEM’s initiative to raise the quality of its AM supplier network, the partnership will help suppliers move from readiness to recognized certification.

  • Additive Center will lead supplier engagement, readiness assessments, and gap closure activities through its engineering consultancy and Amify learning platform, building the competencies and workflows needed to meet stringent industry requirements.
  • ASTM International will provide independent certification through its Additive Manufacturing Certification Program, auditing suppliers against ISO/ASTM 52901, 52904, and 52920, as well as relevant sectoral quality standards such as ISO 9001, AS9100, ISO13485 and IATF 16949.

The result is a replicable assurance model that suppliers achieve qualification through hands-on improvement and third-party validation, while OEMs gain trusted, data-driven insight into their supply chains.

Bringing Regulated-Sector Rigor to Semiconductors

“ASTM brings certification, qualification, and standardization experience from the most regulated industries—aerospace, defense, automotive, energy, and medical—into the semiconductor space,” said Sergio Sanchez, Business Director of ASTM International’s Advanced Manufacturing Division. “Additive Center brings local expertise, supplier relationships, and semiconductor-specific knowledge. Together, we’re helping their customers—and the broader high-tech ecosystem—achieve world-class additive manufacturing quality.”

Additive Center CEO Maarten van Dijk added: “Semiconductors are the backbone of every advanced technology on the planet, and additive manufacturing is playing a crucial role. Through this partnership, we can help semicon OEMS and their suppliers raise the bar on precision and repeatability, ensuring the AM parts behind those systems are produced to the highest global standards.”

A Model for Global Industrial Resilience

The initiative supports a broader movement toward localized, qualified supply chains in critical technologies. By combining ASTM’s international trusted network with Additive Center’s regional strength in Brainport Eindhoven, the partnership aims to build a foundation for AM-enabled manufacturing that is both technically advanced, cost effective and globally credible.

This program will be highlighted at Formnext 2025 in Frankfurt, Germany, where both organizations will be present:

  • Additive Center Booth: Hall 12.1, C68
  • ASTM International Booth: Hall 11.0, E41

Further information about this collaboration and upcoming certification opportunities will be available at both booths. A press conference about this news and much more will take place on Tuesday, November 18, from 4:00–4:30 p.m. (Hall 11.0, Stand A21).

About ASTM International

The AM CoE is a collaborative partnership representing industry, government, and academia to conduct strategic R&D to advance AM standardization. The center also aims to accelerate development and adoption of AM by developing training and certification programs, and providing market intelligence, business strategy, and advisory services through Wohlers Associates, powered by ASTM International.

About Additive Center

Founded in 2018 at the Brainport Industries Campus in Eindhoven, Additive Center is the end-to-end partner for scaling Additive Manufacturing at global enterprises. They provide AM Boost Programs, advanced Engineering capabilities, and Qualified Manufacturing. Their Amify platform serves as an enterprise-grade tool to accelerate AM adoption, effectively transferring knowledge and proven applications developed by small, specialized AM teams to the larger organization (10 to 10,000 employees), significantly increasing the benefits. Working with the major OEM industry leaders in Semiconductor, FMCG, Automotive and Energy, Additive Center leads the adoption of AM globally. Learn more at www.additivecenter.com and www.amify.me.”
