Technical Manager – Robotics & Exoskeleton Technologies
Dr. Didunoluwa Obilanade is the Technical Manager – Robotics & Exoskeleton Technologies at ASTM International. In his role, he leads the development and delivery of global initiatives supporting the standardisation and adoption of robotics, automation, and advanced manufacturing systems. His work focuses on translating critical and emerging technologies into practical, standards-based frameworks through training, certification, advisory services, and collaborative programmes across industry, academia, and government.
He supports ASTM’s F45 Committee on Robotics, Automation and Autonomous Systems and F48 Committee on Exoskeletons and Exosuits, contributing to international efforts to address safety, performance, and interoperability challenges in next-generation robotic systems, including physically interactive and autonomous technologies.
Dr. Obilanade brings a background spanning aerospace engineering, additive manufacturing (AM), and product development. Prior to joining ASTM, he worked at GKN Aerospace and within the UK Government’s Aerospace Growth Partnership, where he led advanced manufacturing and Industry 4.0 programmes to support technology adoption across the aerospace sector. His experience includes the development and industrialisation of metal AM technologies such as Laser Powder Bed Fusion and Laser Metal Wire Deposition.
Alongside his role at ASTM, he is a Guest Lecturer at Luleå University of Technology. His doctoral research focused on Design for Additive Manufacturing in the space industry, with particular emphasis on surface roughness and qualification challenges in aerospace components. His work has involved collaboration with NASA, European Space Agency, and the UK Space Agency, contributing to the advancement of next-generation aerospace systems. He has also contributed to international space policy and collaboration initiatives through his work with the Space Generation Advisory Council.
