About the Course
This course covers the requirements and routes to validation for metal additive manufacturing parts produced by powder bed fusion and directed energy deposition manufacturing processes. This course will leverage recent case studies from the PBF and DED world to provide context for Structural Integrity challenges and opportunities.
The training course is based on ISO and ASTM standards and is aimed at those who are using, or plan to use, AM in serial or critical applications and would like to learn more about the routes to Qualification and Certification. Attendees would be required to have a strong background in Additive Manufacturing.
The instructors have in-depth experience of Materials, Qualification & Certification, and making parts from Additive Manufacturing Methods. The learning methods are based on logic and experience, and real-life best practices (and lessons learned) will be shared. There will be discussions and plenty of opportunities to ask questions.
What You Will Learn
Participants will gain practical insight into:
- Fundamentals of AM qualification and certification
- AM part classification, consequences, and structural integrity
- Material properties, allowables, and mechanical property measurements
- The role of ISO and ASTM standards in qualification pathways
- Machine, process, and material qualification
- IQ/OQ/PQ frameworks
- Part production controls, NDE/NDI considerations, defects, and supply-chain management
- Qualification testing and real-world industrial case studies
Who Should Attend
This course is suitable for AM Engineers, AM operators, QA/QC Engineers, and other individuals with existing experience in AM who wish to know the route to qualification and certification.
Why Attend
This course will help participants build confidence in applying AM qualification and certification concepts in production environments.
Participants will:
- Gain awareness of best practices and the latest advancements in AM
- Learn from experts from ASTM AM CoE and Auburn University
- Earn a globally recognized certificate from ASTM International and a certificate from A*STAR
- Participate in interactive discussions, mini-workshops, and an industry visit
- Connect standards-based learning to real production and qualification challenges
Upon completion, participants will receive a Certificate of Attendance from A*STAR SIMTech if they achieve at least 75% attendance in the course.
Additionally, they will earn a globally recognized certificate from ASTM International upon passing an assessment, which consists of 30 multiple-choice questions, with a minimum score of 70%.
