Scott Klavon

Senior Lead – Supplier Qualification

Scott Klavon is the Senior Lead – Supplier Qualification at ASTM International. He has over 36 years of experience in managing technical industry programs for non-profit organizations and trade associations. Scott has held numerous senior management positions with increasing levels of responsibility and scope. He has a proven track record of successful P/L responsibility ($34M annual turnover) as well as supervision of over 400 employees and independent contractors. In his current role, Scott supports the ASTM Additive Manufacturing Center of Excellence. More specifically, Scott has helped establish and foster the ASTM Additive Manufacturing Certification Committee, composed of 27 OEMs from the aerospace/defense, automotive/truck, and medical device industries. Prior to joining up with ASTM, Scott managed a large aerospace industry certification program that conducted over 6,000 technical audits annually around the world for the aerospace OEMs. Scott has also managed the largest aerospace industry consensus standards programs in the world, responsible for the development and management of over 7,000 aerospace standards, material specifications, recommended practices and information reports.

Prior to this role, Scott provided depot and field level engineering support for U.S. Marine Corps H-1 helicopters at the Naval Aviation Depot in Pensacola Florida. Scott began his professional career as a commissioned officer in the U.S. Navy and served four years active duty, earning a Navy Achievement Medal for his accomplishments.

Scott holds a Bachelors of Science degree in Aerospace Engineering from the Pennsylvania State University and is a graduate of the Wharton School of Business Executive Development Program at the University of Pennsylvania. Scott is a Fellow in the Royal Aeronautical Society and an Associate Fellow in the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics. Scott is married to Gretchen Klavon and has two children and two grandchildren. His hobbies include fly fishing and vintage stereo equipment.
